Book Editing & Proofreading

I am a professional content developer who specializes in ebook editing and proofreading. I’ve worked with both non-fiction and fiction projects since 1997, and my experience is exactly what you need to help make your book successful.

I offer 4 levels of service, for fiction or nonfiction works.

1. Proofreading: Usually the final step after all editing has been completed and right before you hit the upload and publish button. This is just a quick final check by a fresh set of eyes to make sure nothing was missed. I check spelling, punctuation, grammar and basic word structure for any awkwardness.

2. Critique and Suggestions: This is a non-corrective service. I simply read over the book and tell you where there are problems, what needs to be improved, and give you suggestions for those improvements or changes.

3. Simple Copy Editing: Here is where I provide changes, fixes and corrections. Simple copy editing generally includes correcting spelling issues, ensuring the proper variation of a word is used (there, their, they’re), fixing awkward sentence structure, and correcting grammar problems. I provide this service to you as a marked up file and as a finished file, separately so that you may easily see the differences.

4. Comprehensive, Structural, Developmental: This is a much more involved process where I provide both writing and editing. In some cases I’ll cut out fluff and in others I’ll expand on the existing content. I’ll also make changes needed to improve the flow of the content, fix formatting issues, ensure the table of contents is created and linked properly, and provide all of the general copyediting services as well.

All services are provided in American English and documents are in Microsoft Word.

My favorite fiction topics are apocalyptic, dystopian and romance. I work with almost any fiction however, and the prices below are for general genres that require little to no fact checking. Historical fiction for instance, and technical space odysseys require much more work and are considered on a case by case basis. I do not have issues with foul language, sexual content, violence and gore.
